Which Dinosaur Toy? A Guide For Choosing The Right Dinosaur Toy For Your Child

There are so many Dinosaur Toys to choose from  how do you pick the right dinosaur for your child? Here's our guide for choosing the right Dinosaur Toy.

Many people think that the main question is whether you get a wooden dinosaur toy, a rubber dinosaur toy for the bath or a more sophisticated animatronic dinosaur toy. Would they like a soft cuddly dinosaur toy or something more educational?
However we think that the main decision is whether you should be buying a T Rex dinosaur toy, a Triceratops or a Diplodocus so here's our guide to which dinosaur toy we would recommend.

1. T Rex Dinosaur Toy

Certainly the most well know of all the dinosaurs the T Rex dinosaur is known for its ferocity and sheer size and has featured in films from Jurassic Park to Toy Story. Its name (which literally translates as King of the Tyrant Lizards) was given in 1905 by the American Natural History Museum. However the largest ever T Rex skeleton discovered which was 4m tall and 12m long was rather charmingly called Sue after the Paleontologist who discovered it.

So which child should you buy a T Rex dinosaur toy for? The big test is whether when they pick up any T Rex dinosaur toy do they immediately run around the room shouting Rooooaaar very loudly? If so then the T Rex is definitely for them. If not then you may need to move on to a less ferocious dinosaur toy.
We have lots of T Rex dinosaur toys to choose from, including lots of different sizes and 2 different bright colours.

2. Diplodocus Dinosaur Toy

Thanks to the film The Good Dinosaur and the UK tour of the Natural History Museum's Dippy the Diplodocus we would guess that the Diplodocus is now the second best well known dinosaur. The Diplodocus dinosaur was not a predator but had no known enemies. We like to think this was because he looked so friendly that no one could dislike him. However more pragmatically it might be more because his sheer size put most predators off. At 27m long he would have been a large dinosaur to take on!

Our cheerful, smiling diplodocus dinosaur toys are very accessible for even the youngest of children. Our friendly little chaps, with their welcoming faces are perfect for baby toys.

We have 3 sizes of our orange Diplodocus dinosaur toys plus a couple of calm pastel diplodocus baby rattles so a diplodocus dinosaur toy for everyone

3. Triceratops Dinosaur Toy

Weirdly enough the Triceratops dinosaur only has 2 horns so really he should be called a Duoceratops? The horn on his nose is not actually made of horn but is more a bump! As a dinosaur toy the Triceratops has featured in most dinosaur films but despite being distinctive they are never in the starring role. They are the Robin to the T Rex's Batman, Chewbacca to Hans Solo.

So our Triceratops dinosaur toy is bright, calm, quirky and not one to be centre of attention. Does that remind you of anyone? I'm not sure that calling someone a Triceratops would be viewed as a compliment but sounds good to me.

Our Triceratops dinosaur toy is bright red and solidly built, perfect for rough and tumble of toddler play. We have Triceratops dinosaur toys in 2 sizes, and we also have him available in natural rubber which makes him a perfect dinosaur bath toy

4. Woolly Mammoth

I've started cheating a little here as the Woolly Mammoth is not actually a dinosaur but a mammal. However while I don't want to undermine the education system we classify our Woolly Mammoth as a dinosaur toy because the poor thing lived a long time ago,and is both huge and extinct.

Although it is unlikely that the Woolly Mammoth himself could paint or draw we view our Woolly Mammoth as artistic because we know a lot about them due to the cave paintings left of him. No one is sure whether these paintings were done as an act of worship or because it was felt that capturing the Woolly Mammoth in paint would somehow help the hunters capture one in real life, but representations of Woolly Mammoths have been left in caves all across Europe.

So our Woolly Mammoth is bit artistic and cuddly, do you know someone who would like a dinosaur toy like that?
