Why did we develop our new range of human body part bag charms?
For the same reason we created our popular dinosaur toys, because people, especially children, are endlessly fascinated by them.
From gigantic dinosaurs to the human body organs that keep us alive, children love to question and this is doubly so when its something which comes with just the right amount of yuck factor.
Why Are We Drawn to Gross Things?
Part of our fascination with body parts is rooted in what psychologists call benign masochism, the tendency to enjoy negative sensations in a safe and controlled environment.
Think: rollercoasters, horror films, or super spicy food. It's the thrill without the real danger.
Even literature taps into this. Shakespeare’s famously gory Titus Andronicus is filled with so much violence that scholars have counted one gruesome act every 97 lines!
When it comes to our own bodies, that curiosity meets a mixture of awe and slight squeamishness. Hearts, lungs, the brain are all incredible, and but also just a little bit ew.
