Our pterodactyl knitted flying dinosaur toy in striking yellow yarn has bat-like wings and a crest on its head. The pterodactyl is not strictly a dinosaur but was in fact a type of flying reptile - part of the pterosaur family. As it lived in the same period as the dinosaurs, in the late Jurassic period, we have decided to add it to our knitted dinosaur toys family. Pterodactyls would have been approximately the same size as modern birds such as eagles and hawks.

Highland cows originated in the Scottish Highlands and the Western Islands with long horns and a long shaggy coat. They are not usually seen in the wilds of Scotland wearing stripey jumpers, though we think it could be a lovely addition. Plesiosaurus is an extinct marine reptile that lived in the Jurassic period. The plesiosaurus was twice as long as a modern horse and weighed twice as much as a modern pig. The name plesiosaurus means 'almost lizard' though it is often described as looking like a combination of a modern day turtle and snake.

We like to think that our knitted T Rex dinosaur toy was the inspiration for George's dinosaur on Peppa Pig. We have no proof of this except that our dinosaur toy is green and is often bought as a gift for two year olds so that's enough isn't it?
